I’m so glad you’re here! Before we dive into how to use the dowsing rods, you’ll want to make sure you have a pair. This is the pair I started with and you can see in my early videos if you’d like the same ones. This is the pair I use in my current videos with the spiral and crystal on the end.
Step 1: RELAX. Seriously. Meditate. Go for a walk. Take a bath. Listen to some music. Do anything you need to clear your head from the day, work, life, family, all of the things.
Step 2: This is a make your own step point. Some people like to do rituals or say a prayer or set intensions. If you’d like, you can say or think something along the lines of “I only want to speak to spirits in my highest and best good” or “I intend to connect with ___ (my higher self, my spirit guide, etc), all others are not welcome”. Some folks prefer to sit in crystal grids or to light candles. It’s really up to you and what resonates with you and your belief system.
Step 3: Hold the rods in your hands approximately level. I find it helps to wrap your thumb around the rest of your fingers and to keep your arms somewhat close to your torso.
Step 4: Start asking questions! Level setting questions are often the best way to start “Can you show me what a ‘yes’ looks like?” or “Can you cross the rods to indicate ‘yes’?”. Then ask for a ‘no’ answer. I often ask for the rods to point to the direction that the energy I’m working with is coming from. This is great to do each time because once you’ve been working with the same entity for awhile, you can notice if the direction changes and clarify who you are talking to. Note that there is no right or wrong way for a yes or no to show up. Most folks will say that a ‘no’ is typically crossed rods, but it really doesn’t matter so long as YOU know which way is which and are comfortable with that.
Step 4A: Once you have established what a yes and no look like, begin your practice by asking questions you know the right answer to. Some suggestions:
-Is my name ___?
-Do I have a dog?
-Do I live in an apartment right now?
-Are my eyes blue?
-Am I sitting down right now?
Step 5: Ask away!
Troubleshooting:
Rods won’t move: Are you relaxed? Take a deep breath. Shake out your arms and move your body around. Don’t actively be tense or trying to stop the rods or your arms/hands from moving. Don’t intentionally move anything either, it will happen naturally. If you are still not getting an answer, try going back to a question you know the answer to. If they start working again, it’s possible you aren’t meant to know the answer to the question you asked or the question/answer is too unclear to provide an answer (this happens to everyone, including me).
Rods still aren’t moving? Here’s a few more tricks to try:
-Use the rods right when you wake up in the morning. The sleepier you still are the better.
-Try right after exercising or after taking a bath or shower. Both of these are really grounding
-Instead of trying to hold still, move your arms up and down while asking your question at a good medium pace. Make sure you can move the rods up and down without shifting the rods around to show that they are staying neutral before asking your question. Once you’ve got that down, ask a question and see how they move. The movement helps get your thinking brain out of the way.
I get different answers when I ask twice: There’s myriad of reasons why this could happen. If you’re asking about the future, that can change in the blink of an eye (because free will exists and you can take actions to change the future). If it’s not about the future, the intention or context behind your question can change the answer given (even if you use the exact same words). That doesn’t make either answer wrong, it just means you need to examine the context of the situation.
