A Glitch in the Matrix Story

A few days ago, I was in the kitchen putting away dishes when a screw fell out of one of the hinges on my cabinet doors. “No big deal, I’ll screw it back in.”

I bend down to find the screw, but it’s nowhere to be found. “Greeaattt..” Since I am the dowsing rod girl, I got out my dowsing rods to have spirit point me towards the lost screw. I ask spirit for help and they point me directly towards the fridge. “Is the screw under the fridge?” “Yes, thank you”. Oh no. (Here’s some instructions on how to use the rods if you’d like some help getting started)

I bend down and turn on my phone light to try and see if I could see it. No luck. I get out the broom and a square and a plethora of other flat, long things to see if I can manage to sweep it out blindly. Still no luck. I decide to deal with it another day, the cabinet will be fine.

The next day, I sit down near the fireplace. Mind you, the fireplace is the complete opposite direction from the fridge relative to where I was standing and from where I heard the scream go. I look down. Sitting perfectly on the brick is the missing screw. “How on earth did you get there?!”

I quickly go find a toothpick and break off the end into the cabinet screw hole and proceed to screw the hinge back into the door. (This is my favorite quick way to fix a stripped hole by the way! If you’re feeling really fancy, you can put some wood glue on the toothpick too)

So how did the screw end up there? This is what is commonly called a “glitch in the matrix”. A glitch in the matrix is exactly that.. basically the laws we know of physics, time, and space are all broken. I tend to think that this little screw went through a wormhole or portal of sorts to travel to the other side of the room. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that I was on a different timeline when I lost the screw and nature had to correct itself and put the screw back where it belonged… sort of.

This is not the first time this has happened to me, nor will it be the last I’m sure. Finding things in places I did not leave them. Things seemingly disappearing for good, only to find them years later. Getting somewhere far faster than should be possible – or losing several hours along the way. I’ve experienced it all, but brushed it off to my imagination at the time because I didn’t know what had happened.

If you like these kinds of stories, I’ve spent many nights reading similar accounts from people on Reddit under the sub r/glitch_in_the_matrix

Have you experienced a glitch in the matrix before? I’d love to hear your story!

  1. In the 1980’s my sister spent a summer in France as part of an exchange program. One day she took a boat ride on the Siene in Paris. After returning home and developing the pictures, we noticed that I was in the background of one of them. Except, I had never been to Paris and she did not remember seeing this person on the boat. This person had the exact same hairstyle & vibrant red color, sunglasses like mine and clothes that looked like ones I owned. Maybe a glitch in the matrix, or a doppelgänger, or a parallel timeline, or a combination of these?? I was never quite sure what to think about it.

  2. Once I was walking into my living from the back yard and saw my roommate walk behind the wall into the kitchen. I thought maybe she came home from work early so I said, Hi Jennifer home so soon?”. I wondered why she didn’t reply so I walked into the kitchen. No Jennifer! In fact her car wasn’t even in the driveway!!

  3. I was at my brother’s house doing a puzzle with him and my sister-in-law. We got down to the last piece and couldn’t find it anywhere. That never happened to us. We checked the box (brand new puzzle), the floor, ourselves. We searched everywhere and didn’t find it. Later that night when I got home I immediately took off my shoes and left my purse and coat in the entryway. I went upstairs and changed into my pjs in my bathroom. I made sure to double check all of my clothes one by one and look over my entire body just in case the missing puzzle piece was stuck somewhere. No luck. I brushed my teeth, braided my hair, and climbed into my comfy but slightly crowded bed (husband, two dogs, and a cat). My husband woke up earlier so he took the dogs out, took his shower, kissed me goodbye and left for work. I woke up hours later and went straight to the restroom. When I walked back into my room, the puzzle piece was sitting right on top of my comforter. Perfectly. Like someone just put it there seconds before I walked in. When I saw it, I felt it immediately. I knew without a doubt, like 150%, that puzzle piece was somehow moved through another dimension/space/time. I felt slightly frozen for a second. I wasn’t cold or scared but I got full body goosebumps. I wasn’t sad but tears came out of my eyes. I was slightly tingly. That happens to me sometimes and when it does, I know that it is confirmation that what I’m thinking/feeling/saying is correct. I thought that someone in another dimension (particularly my cousin who passed away that we were super close with) knew we would want that puzzle piece so they delivered it to me through dimension/space/time beyond my human mind’s comprehension. Reading your story I thought the same thing. Someone in another dimension knew you would need that so they put it in a place that was easy for you to see. But I never even thought about a glitch. That’s super interesting. Now I feel like I’m about to go down a reddit rabbit hole!

  4. I have a pair of diamond earrings that I keep in my jewelry box in a safe. One day they just disappeared. I emptied everything out, searched everywhere but could never find them. Two years later, after I had given up, I went into my jewelry box and the earrings were back where they belonged. I know that no one else could have gotten into that safe except me. Very weird.

  5. Maybe not a glitch in the matrix story per se, but still a good one. A few years ago, I lost a pair of glasses. At the time, I was long-distance managing the care of my mother, who was suffering from dementia (this will be important later). I searched the house, the car, my purse, repeatedly, and after a couple of months, I broke down and replaced them. One day after a particularly difficult mom-care day (she became very angry at me over the phone), I had to go pick up my dog at the groomer. The ladies who owned the grooming facility often also hosted events like group psychic readings, etc. I opened my purse to pay for the services, and was dumbstruck to see the missing glasses just sitting on top of everything else in my purse. When I was obviously flabbergasted, the lady asked what was wrong. I said, “These glasses have been missing for months!” and a lady working on a dog behind the counter said, “it’s your mom, she put them there.” I said, “she’s in another state, and is suffering from dementia … although we did have a fight today.” She explained that dementia patients can move between realms/worlds, and she knew that I was upset over the phone conversation. Who knows if that’s actually true, but I do know those glasses had been missing and certainly had not been in my purse. I recently lost a valuable necklace in my house, and even though Mom is no longer with us, I would love it if she’d find my necklace!

    1. Archangel Chamuel and also Saint Anthony are amazing helpers when it comes to finding things like this. You can just clearly ask them, in your head or out loud, to please show you where it is or to help you in your search. I just did it an hour ago, and it was immediate 👽✨💜

  6. Wow – my husband and I just refer to this phenomenon as ‘it’s gone into the wormhole’. Years ago, I babysat a little boy daily in my apartment. When it came time for him to go home one Friday afternoon, we couldn’t find his shoes – he was 2 at the time. I looked, his mom looked, he looked, my husband searched too as he arrived home in the middle of our search. The apartment wasn’t that big and we didn’t have much stuff in it. After 15 minutes the mom took him home, said they’d wear another pair of shoes over the weekend and not to worry. Weekend passed, didn’t see the shoes. Sunday afternoon, we did a weekly cleaning – vacuum, mop, dust, tidy the rooms, toss things, clean under beds – that kind of stuff. No shoes. Woke up Monday morning and the shoes were sitting together in the middle of the living room. My husband was still asleep. I was puzzled, and had goose bumps. No explanation. We were stumped and eventually joked about it. But over the years, we’ve a handful of experienced similar events and refer to them as wormhole incidents. Glad we aren’t the only ones!

OMG yes, multiple times since I was a kid ( I know you are going to say well kids are disorganized) but there ware things that had no explanation, so I just said well I guess it went through the portal. Coming from Mexican (and I’m sure other cultures have something similar) we prayed to a certain saint for the lost things, and they would show up suddenly and randomly.

  8. This is probably going to sound a little strange even to someone as open minded as you, but fairies. Although, I am not questioning your theory, I do believe that fairies also seem to like to mess with our things. Haha.

  9. […] matrix are nothing new to me – I have another story about a different glitch in the matrix story here. If the concept is new to you, it’s often when the laws of physics and time are broken. […]
