Welcome to the Family, Orly

There’s a new household member around the SolarGlow house. Meet Orly!

Spirit started telling me about Orly about a year before we got him. We lost our previous dogs – Patch the Great Dane and Bear the Bernese Mountain Dog about two years before Orly came to us. I’ve had dogs most of my life and love having them around, so I knew we’d have another eventually. One night in 2025, I had a dream with details from spirit about what dog was meant to be ours. I received the name of a city (that’s not too far from us), the date December 11th, and a red collar.

Well, it’s not December yet and the collar color we got from the litter was the gray collared boy. I had bought a red collar because of the dream and had put in the request for the red boy, but we ultimately did not get final say in which pup we ended up with. It does leave me a little confused about the messaging I got. There’s two ways I can look at the information. The first is that free will happened and things shifted from the original dream I had. Over the course of a year, that’s more than likely to happen, especially when some decisions around this feel minor in the grand scheme of life.

The second is that whatever is meant to play out isn’t over yet. I took the dream to mean that December 11th was the day we were meant to pick up our new puppy… but maybe it’s significant in some other way? Spirit is notoriously bad at translating dates. Our calendars are made up and they change with seconds being added, leap years, and so on. Perhaps I was the one meant to put the red collar on him? Maybe the red collar was symbolism for getting a Bernese Mountain dog because we had a red collar for Bear too? I’d certainly love to know, but will I ever really know? I don’t know.

I’m sharing all of this because even spirit confuses me too. I love getting information from the dowsing rods and having that yes or no come through so clearly. But even the dowsing rod information and questions we get can have so much nuance and additional context to be added to them. Life is ever fluid and changing too, so what might have been true yesterday, might not be true tomorrow. But for today, I’m thankful to have a puppy to snuggle and grateful Orly is home with us.

What do you think when things play out differently than spirit led you to know? Do you have a furry friend at home? How did they come into your life? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Orly is so precious šŸ˜ The puppy phase is not for the weak, but I hope you enjoy every moment 🐶 Your comment about the rods and them having so much nuance and additional context hit me like a ton of bricks and I am just so happy it’s not just me šŸ˜… The rods have just recently started to respond to me pretty consistently and quickly but spirit is also teaching me how to ask the right questions. I have a perfect recent example of this but I’ll probably just include it in my future book šŸ˜‰ Grateful to have run into your videos and just want to say thank you for introducing me to the rods ā™„ļø

  2. I have the most wonderful Norwegian Forest Cat–Bo. He has two cancerous masses and I’ve been asking spirit over and over what to do. I don’t want him to suffer, but so far he seems okay. He’s my world and I’ve been pre-grieving for 3 months now. He is ALWAYS with me. Animals are just so special and powerful for us. I love your new puppy!!

  3. Congratulations! Orly is adorable! We, too, are getting a new pup in the next few weeks – I’ve got two dogs but one is 15 and I’ve been working with my team on the rods talking about the timing of / type of next dog for our family. This is happening a little sooner than I imagined, but it seems that they suggest getting the new pup now before our senior dog transitions is a good idea. They told me my senior dog wants to meet the new one, too. I think it is interesting trying to balance the definitive “yes/no” of the rods with my own opinions and ideas – I don’t give them too much latitude but I find myself wondering “what would the rods say” often – because who wouldn’t want a second opinion lol?! I notice and agree that timing is tricky – I’ll ask Sophia to hop on sometimes as she seems to be better with the “earthly clock” (I believe I learned that from one of your videos) than my team as well – but we all know things can change and usually do. In any event – enjoy your new family member and post any tips and tricks you feel may be helpful lol!

  4. Lovely boy! I think Spirit gave you the boy you were meant to get and yes, now you are to put the red collar on!

  5. Welcome home, Orly! Perhaps in the future you can encourage your parents to adopt your future siblings from a rescue or shelter as opposed to buying hem from breeders.šŸ¤

  6. I think Bear wanted Orly to be the next one to wear the red collarā£ļø orly is adorable. 🄰 congratulations

  8. Welcome Orly!

We have FOUR dogs and they all came into our lives in fun ways. I always had a strong feeling that I would have a black lab or a black dog at some point in my life. My husband and I went to see a dog at a shelter who was tan, but was just too much for us at the moment, given my husband was in cancer treatments. The adoption coordinator recommended Malekai…She walks him out and he is of course a black lab mix…and by mix, I mean super mutt. Soft, gentle, kind and most definitely ours.

Our second came to us because I was educating myself on a certain breed and he popped up as an available puppy as I was searching. I couldn’t refuse him, neither could my husband. We instantly knew. He is the one of our four that I have a very strong connection with.

Our third was from a completely separate litter than we put a deposit down on. Not sure why we made this decision, but she is our only girl and my husband often says she is me in dog form. We adore her.

Finally, the dog we were never supposed to have…A year ago there was an adorable pup I felt so drawn to, he was available at 8 weeks, but having three already, I felt I needed to see if he was meant for us. I asked the universe for signs and 4 weeks later the puppy still had no home. I said yes to him, then backed out because I felt overwhelmed by my decision. The breeder said it was okay, they had back ups who wanted him. I somehow still felt heartbroken a few days later after turning him away, but figured surely he was at his new home by now. I reached out to the breeder and his new home fell through. I said that’s it, he is ours. Andre joined our family a few days later and stole our hearts.
