Small spoons are notorious for disappearing without a trace. It doesn’t matter if they never leave the house, or even the kitchen. Somehow their numbers seem to dwindle. It’s very similar to socks in the dryer – there’s a portal or a house gremlin coming to collect one sock and small spoons.
I figured out a hack to get around this. I bought rainbow / iridescent small spoons to add to the small spoons collection. We haven’t lost any rainbow or regular spoons since then. My theory for why this works is that buying rainbow spoons is a message to the universe that you’re paying attention to these things and want to keep them. I haven’t exactly figured out how to keep the socks around though – all my socks are already very colorful and they still seem to go missing.
