The Gateway Program at the Monroe Institute Review

I was invited to be apart of the gateway program at the Monroe Institute in Faber, Virginia. The team pulled together their second creator gateway where they invited influencers, authors, reporters, and icons in the spiritual space. I was completely honored to be selected. I have to admit I had a tinge of fear because the gateway process was developed with the CIA – could this be secretly nefarious? After some consultation with Archangel Michael about attending, I accepted.

If you’re not familiar with the program, you spend a week going through various audio recordings to experience different levels of consciousness. Each recording is associated with a different “focus level” and state of being. For example, focus 10 is the state of “mind awake, body asleep”. We explored levels 10, 12, 15, and 21. There are documents available in the CIA declassified files that explain the process and what is happening in more detail. The Monroe website also contains an overview.

I won’t go into too much detail on my takeaways from the program for each day. During the program I filmed vlog segments that are posted on YouTube and linked below. The video will do a much better job explaining what happened and how I was feeling in that moment. You can see the changes I went through during the week.

If you’re on the fence about the program, I recommend just booking it. If it’s meant to happen it will and if you aren’t meant to be there, something will prevent you from going. You are in total control the whole time. If something doesn’t feel right or isn’t aligned, you don’t have to do it. In my experience, it’s hard to make a good judgement call about what is real and what isn’t from secondhand experience. Sometimes you just have to do it for yourself to understand and learn.

My recommendations if you do book the program:

  • Make sure to bring a sweater or two, inside can be cold with air conditioning in the summer
  • They recommend not making any major changes to your life close to doing the program – either before or after
  • They will accommodate any dietary restrictions, but don’t recommend any specific diets. The food is great and typical American fair – tacos, pork chops, spaghetti and meatballs, fruit, yogurt, eggs, etc.
  • Bring a swimsuit in the summer for the lake or pool (they have both)
  • Put on bug spray, my legs were eaten
  • Come without expectations. Everybody has them including me, but going in with an open mind allows what needs to happen to come

Would I do it again? Absolutely! It was incredible to experience both my own growth, but more so I appreciated being part of the process for the others in the group. There’s something so profound about experiencing this process through multiple lenses.

Looking forward, they say it takes 4-6 months to integrate all of the learnings from the program. I know writing this while sitting at the airport, I’m still very ungrounded – which is necessary for the experience, but I’m sure it’ll take me a few days to come back to earth and my body fully. You can see this towards the end of the YouTube video to understand. I’m sure this experience will inspire many more blog posts to come too!

Have you done the program before? What did you think?

  1. Sounds so interesting Megan. Are you able to share who else you were with? With their permission? Or is this in your videos?
