I get asked quite a bit how I got started with spiritualism. It’s been a lifelong journey that I did not realize I was on until recently.
I’ll start with recent memories that have filled up my life. As with so many people “waking up”, I started to become introduced (or reintroduced?) to the idea of spiritualism and all things non-physical by scrolling through Tik Tok. I was admittedly late to the Tik Tok game, not joining until mid pandemic only to be blown away by the algorithm. I learned many things about myself from this app, but this concept stuck out in my and became somewhat of an obsession for me.
After that, I went down many rabbit holes of research at 2am. Looking up aliens, astral projection, Atlantis, various gods, dabbling into research of various religions, free masons, the Gnostics, and so on. Several things stood out to me as I keep researching. 1) I believe that non-human intelligence exists and that some of that intelligence takes on the physical forms we know as “aliens”. 2) Many religions have similar themes and ideas behind them. I don’t prescribe to any particular religion but take pieces from any and all that resonate with me. 3) I clearly feel and know something beyond what is provable and explainable by science and some of the things in spiritualism explain this knowing and feeling in a way that makes sense to me and my perception of my experiences.
This research quickly turned into a way for me to answer questions I’ve never known how to explain before. I found other influencers that explain ethics, morals, and workings of spirit that just make sense to me. The big example here that always sticks out in my head is that “energy cannot be created or destroyed”. So what happens to the energy that creates a persons personality after they die? I’ve always believed in reincarnation, but seeing psychics prove over and over again that they know things that would be otherwise impossible to know unless they were actually talking with the other side really started to reinforce this idea for me.
So what happened from there? My mother-in-law! She’s been a reiki master for many years and has owned a crystal shop for most of the time I’ve known her. She lives far away, so I’ve only been to her store a handful of times. The few times I’ve gone, we’ve played with crystals and I can literally feel the energy move through my body as I change the direction a selenite wand is pointing.
She asked me one day if I’d like to get attuned to reiki and I said yes. I don’t think I was fully ready for what was about to happen. She moved through the reiki symbols and hand placements. By the time she got through the last cycle of energy work, I felt the energy coming through my hands and go straight to my heart. It literally felt like my heart burst open and I started crying. She started crying too. I got so many downloads in that moment of past pain and was reliving some of my negative self talk about my body. It was a moment of needing to learn self love and treating myself better. She then handed me a book to go read about reiki and how to do self healing and learning the first set of symbols. I don’t know that I’ve had a kundalini awakening, but I would say that this certainly comes close.
In that moment, I started to really understand how powerful energy is and how we can physically control it. I became fully obsessed with exploring various modalities of spiritualism and learning which ones I like best.
I found another influencer on Tik Tok that was using dowsing rods to ask questions. I ordered some about a week later and was so excited to start practicing. It was slow going to get the rods to respond and I felt awkward talking out loud to nobody in particular. It took some getting used to, but I still get weirded out if I think people are listening in while I’m dowsing and not talking directly to them.
After that, I decided I really wanted to get a psychic reading done to get some validation about what I’ve been thinking and feeling all along. It took my 4 months to work up the courage to book an appointment. I choose to go through the Clairvoyant School of Hawaii because the readings are affordable and I figured a school teaching this stuff would be highly credible in their readings. I was blown away. They were spot on with nearly everything they told me. It was a 90 minute reading with 3 of the students and they mentioned several symbols from spirit that are very personal to me – specifically that I was doing yoga on top of a mountain. I’ve been practicing yoga and hiking for years, but had fallen a bit out of it. To have these strangers know that about me was all the validation I needed to know everything else they said was what I needed to hear.
One of the things they mentioned during the reading is that I should start keeping a dream journal to start tuning into my higher self. I started the next night. Dreaming has turned into the easiest way I communicate with spirit. I get so many messages at night and have great fun going on adventures. This is one of the main places I’ve incorporated crystals into my spiritual practice. I pick a crystal each night to sleep with to set the tone for what sort of dream I want to have for the night.
After my reading with the clairvoyant school, I enrolled in their clairvoyance 101 and 102 classes to learn the foundations of how clairvoyant school teaches energy work as opposed to reiki. I also received my level 2 reiki attunement from my mother-in-law during this time. I absolutely love both modalities and each teaches with slightly different intentions. Clairvoyance is more about reading the person then healing, whereas reiki is more about healing the person without a focus on perceiving what’s there.
And that’s how I got here. I really started the blog and social media channels to keep myself accountable to continue each practice. I continue to practice the tools I’ve learned through clairvoyant school and have really started to understand how to meditate. I’m glad I had the yoga foundations to understand how the chakras work. My yoga practice has improved from my clairvoyant work and I own my mat now.
So what happened before my most recent awakening? I’ve had Deja Vu and pre-cognitive memories my entire life. They come and go in spurts, depending on how emotional or pivotal the moment is. I’ve always had vivid dreams, but would for for long periods without remembering them. I’ve intentionally visited friends in my dreams, especially as a teenager. I’ve gone lucid in my dreams unintentionally. I just knew things that turned out to be right 20 years later. I’ve encountered ghosts. I think I had an alien visit me once, but that could have been a ghost encounter instead.
I must have some goals, right? I do! One of my big goals is to be able to astral project. Why? Because I want to fly on command. I’ve been working on this since I got back into this spiritual journey, but haven’t been successful yet. I have managed to fly in my dreams when I set the intention the night before. I also like telekinesis and can make a crystal roll off my finger. I’d like to make an object float without touching it, but that’s far more advanced than where I’m currently at.
I’ll get there one day, it’s all just energy. Care to join me?
